COACHING

Coaching and instruction will be provided by Rick Foell.
Rick is the LBHS Diving Coach, the South CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Diving Meet Director / Referee and is the Diving Sports Chair for the Central California and Pacific Districts of the AAU.
Rick has been involved in diving since 1976 as a competitor, trampoline instructor at Cal Poly SLO, and coach. He is certified in CPR, First Aid, Deep Water Rescue and Life Saving. He will be instructing participants in beginning through advanced diving techniques.

EXPECTATIONS

Divers will be expected to show up 15-30 minutes prior to their lesson for warming up & stretching and will be ready to dive when their lesson begins. Divers will be expected to practice and excercise at home as instructed by the coach.

The ulitimate goal of each diver is to be able to perform 11 dives in competition. For Novice divers the goal is 6 dives. A Novice diver is one who has not placed first in their age group in a sanctioned meet. These are the minimum number of dives to compete in AAU or US Diving age group competitions.

There are several other Diving Teams within a reasonable driving distance of Los Banos. It is Los Banos Diving's intention to challenge these teams to compete in a several diving meets. We are currently working on a schedule of meets for the 2010 season and will inform team members of those as they are set.

Competition

Los Banos Diving is a year-round competitive diving team and member of the Central Valley Amatuer Athletic's Union. As such we will be participating in numerous competitions throughout the Central Valley and State. All participation in these competitions is voluntary. We will do our best to give as much notice as to when and where the events will be that we plan on competing in.

In order for the Los Banos Diving Team and its team members to participate in competitions, the team, Coaches, and all participants need to be members of the Amatuer Athletics Union (AAU). Through the AAU, the team and participants receive insurance coverage for practice and competitions. Click on the AAU symbol below to visit their website. There you can join online with a credit card or download an application that can be mailed in. AAU applications will also be available at the Los Banos Parks & Recreation office or by contacting the coaches / intructors.
