Clovis Divers Invitational July 14, 2007

RULES FOR AGE GROUP SPRINGBOARD DIVING

Several changed occurred this year in requirements for Novice divers. The new format is called Future Champions. Many meets are still being run under the older Novice format. In order to make it easier for Coaches and Parents to understand the differences in the rules I have listed both here. I have also included the 2006 and 2007 Dive Verifier spreadsheets. Each spreadsheet has a full set of rules and if utilized for filling out the diver's sheet, it will check the dives against the rules for DD and requirements. It will also print out a neat and easy to read dive sheet to submit at any meet.

2006 Dive Sheet Verifier

2007 Dive Sheet Verifier

At the 2007 CCC Championships and at the Section Finals we utilized a program called EZ Meet to help verify dive sheets and tabulate scores. Although a little time is needed to input the teams, divers, and dive sheets, it saved a great deal of time during the meet and at the end in posting results. Once the teamss and divers are inputted they need not be added again and the diver's dive sheet can be imported from previous meets and dives changed as needed from meet to meet.
Some suggestions if you plan to utilize this program for your meets:

  1. Send your diving team roster to all the other Diving Coaches in your league so that they can be inputted into the program ahead of competition. Sending the diver's list (numbers only) ahead of competition will also save time at the meet.
  2. A signed Dive Sheet is still required. Utilize these to write the scores down on as a backup for the computer operator and for announcing.
  3. Have some sort of cover for the computer operator as the screen is hard to see in daylight whether it be a laptop or monitor.
  4. Have a printer available for rapid distribution of results. Utilizing a dot matrix printer with multi part NCR paper will make this relatively quick and easy.
  5. Utilize a ground fault circuit breaker in your extension cords to protect personnel and equipment. Home Depot & Lowes have them for around $10.

I also put together a Spectator's Guide to Diving for Diving teams to hand out at competitions to help parents and other spectators understand what is going on.
